Maru holds a degree from the Universidad the Buenos Aires in Sociology. She has also studied Learning Disabilities and Teaching. In Argentina, Maru taught at the Instituto Mi Amanecer Preschool from 1995-1997 and served as coordinator from 1997-2001.

Since coming to the United States Maru has taught 2, 3 & 4 year olds at KISS; She became director of the Walnut Creek Campus in 2007 and continues to teach the 4-year-olds class.

Maru is passionate about her painting, embracing the anti-figurative aesthetic of abstract expressionism and synthetic cubism to create works in acrylic and watercolor.
